About the Scotland College of Chiropractic

Study in Edinburgh at the first dedicated College for Chiropractic education in Scotland.

Nestled in Scotland's capital in the north of the city of Edinburgh lies The Scotland College of Chiropractic, a college that has been created by the profession, for the profession.

From our academic faculty and professional service team to our donors, sponsors, and supporters, we aim to create a sense of belonging in chiropractic that will impact our communities and help work toward our vision of a healthier, happier humanity

Background

This new professional degree (Integrated Masters in Chiropractic (MChiro) is the first of its kind in Scotland) and has been designed by experienced academics and practitioners from around the world. As the public demands safe and effective ways to provide natural healthcare for their families, there is a need for more chiropractors to graduate with excellent skills in the understanding and practice of chiropractic to provide their communities with information, leadership, and an effective way to improve their health.

That's why the College will deliver a dynamic purpose-driven programme of academic, clinical, and research excellence in the field of chiropractic.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, care, and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and muscles). These disorders may have effects on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques including spinal adjustment. When Chiropractors assess their patients they take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account. www.gcc-uk.org

The Scotland College of Chiropractic embraces a philosophy of chiropractic that recognises the role of the nervous system in the restoration, preservation, and enhancement of human health, performance, and potential.

Governance

The Scotland College of Chiropractic Charitable Trust (SCCCT) was registered as a charity with the Scottish Charity Regulator in 2015. SCCCT is self-governing and legally independent.

The Scotland College of Chiropractic (SCC) is an approved Academic Partner of Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), and our MChiro degree programme is validated by BNU.

BNU is ultimately responsible for the standard of all awards and academic credit granted in its name. To maintain effective oversight of the standards and quality of our provision, SCC has completed a process with BNU which has resulted in the SCC being approved as a partner institution and having the MChiro programme validated by BNU.

The College will continue to maintain quality and standards with the appointment of an External Examiner and through annual monitoring of the programme. Every five years the College undertakes an Academic Partner review with BNU to ensure that all aspects of the relationship and programme are functioning appropriately.
