Scholarship Recipients Announced
We are delighted to announce that the Melissa Sandford Scholarships have been awarded to Kirsty McKee and Nadja Horrocks.
It is with gratitude to the United Chiropractic Association (UCA) for establishing these scholarships in Melissa's name in recognition of her incredible contribution to the chiropractic profession over three decades.
Speaking about the scholarship process, Melissa said:
“The UCA is delighted to be able to offer continued support to two wonderful students on their journey to becoming chiropractors.
It was an incredibly humbling experience to meet both students in person and know the impact this scholarship will have in supporting them through their education.”
A scholarship can be a lifeline to a student and can be the difference whether someone takes up a place in education, or indeed, completes it.
Kirsty who was awarded the first scholarship in 2023, has had a 12-year journey to becoming a chiropractor said:
“Receiving the Melissa Sandford Scholarship from the UCA means so much to me. After 14 years as a Chiropractic Assistant and attending the UCA conferences, I have been inspired by Melissa and all the incredible chiropractors and teams I've met.
This is my second attempt at chiropractic college; I started 12 years ago but couldn't continue due to financial constraints. This scholarship brings me closer to realising my dream of becoming a chiropractor. This scholarship will allow me to fully dedicate myself to my studies and pursue my passion without the burden of financial stress.”
Nadja was awarded the scholarship this year and spoke about the significance of being a scholarship recipient and what it means to her:
“Being awarded this scholarship has held immense significance for me in progressing forward in my education to becoming a chiropractor.
It has given me the financial support I required to excel in my studies, which has relieved massive financial pressure and stress off my shoulders. I feel honoured and very lucky to have been successful in my application."
